There was a shooting in my city yesterday (Saturday).

I linve in a college town in nothern idaho, and 2 days ago, dateline nbc was focused on a murder that happened here in 2010 where a guy (car mechanic no less) strangled his wife, then threw her body in a river, then yesterday, a 29 year-old shot his adopted mom, the manager of the local arby's, his landlord, and some guy the landlord was talking to.

The first 3 are dead, and the 4th in in critical condition in the hospital

there was a car chase, and speeds of over 100 mph, (in the fog no less), this went on into the next state over, the guy crashed, but he is fine, he is wanted in our county for murder but he is in jail in the next county over (this is in washington, in another state) for evading the police.

I didn't know any of these people personally, but some people in my family used to work with the adopted mom of the killer.

Last time I remember a murder this bad was in 2007.

That's crazy. I guess when it's rare, the crime is crazy when it happens.

I live in Atlanta, which as far as cities go it's not that bad, so I've become a bit jaded to violent crime. I mean, there was a shooting by Police and an armed robbery in the past 2 months. Both on campus no less, which to be fair is in the center of Atlanta.

I've lived in this city all my life, and generally it is quite a safe city, the last shooting I remember happening was in 2011, when an assistant professor of psychology had been stalking a student, then he shot her, they ended up having to have snipers come to kill the guy because he had barricaded himself in a room at the local best western. when your not used to having a lot of violent crime in your area, when it does happen, it really kind of gets you.

That is pretty crazy. What's with that 6 years nonsense? I could understand for involuntary manslaughter, but for blatant murder, a potential minimum of 6 years seems a bit light.
